Who is Scott Hall?
Raised in Oakland, California, Scott grew up as a white kid who lived on the wealthy side of town, but who was always aware of racial injustice. He didn’t know what to do about that until he was in an African American Studies class at UCLA during the LA Riots of 1992, when he was compelled to change his major to African American Studies and launch himself on a journey of learning from peers and leaders of color for the next 30 years. With a master’s degree in intern-cultural studies, today Scott works as a justice learning director, a chaplain for youth who are incarcerated, and a DEI consultant with specific training targeted at white Americans who want to learn to do less harm and find their part to play in working toward racial equity.
Scott is married to his wife Jenny, and his favorite way to train, teach, and mentor is in tandem with her. In addition to being an actor and yoga teacher, Jenny teaches regular courses on personal growth rooted in depth psychology. Together, Scott and Jenny raise their 16-year-old twin children in Kent, Washington, just south of Seattle. In his spare time Scott loves being outside, playing a few instruments, and getting really good at chopping wood to keep his home warm with the family woodstove.
